Hot Stone Massage

A hot stone massage starts off by placing heated basalt stones directly on the skin to increase relaxing as well as preparing the deep muscles for the therapist to target them during the massage. The basalt stones are a volcanic rock that are typically heated between 110-130 degrees. (Any stones set in place are set on towel or sheet to act as barrier to skin.)  The heated stones on top of a body massage significantly increase relaxing and reduce stress levels. Another benefit the hot stones provide is the expansion of the skin which allows for increased blood flow.

Additional benefits provided by a hot stone massage are overall reduction in pain, especially pain attributed to carpal tunnel, arthritis, and muscle spasms. Hot stone massages can also increase range of motion, reduce stress, and muscle tension.
